The Freedom of Press Foundation (FPF) is a nonprofit organization which just now started accepting cryptocurrency donations. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Zcash will be the first coins accepted. These donations are meant for the support of the FPF projects and to advance press freedom “including SecureDrop, the open source whistleblower submission platform used by more than 60 news organizations worldwide.”
And on the very first day when this was announced, a blockchain company called Mainframe donated 1000 ETH to FPF.
“This donation stems from the mutual goal to fight not only for a free press, but for a free people in a digital age: free from the chains of censorship, free from the tyranny of unchecked surveillance, and free to use our data how we want.”, explains their blog post.
This is a massive step for the FPF, as their movement involves working closely with Edward Snowden and other activists, journalists and whistleblowers.
